WELCOME!
I am Mrs. Abercrombie and I have been working in education since 1993 when I graduated from Clemson University in Early Childhood Education.   GO TIGERS!  I completed my M.Ed from the University of South Carolina while a first grade teacher, in 1995, and later received my National Board Certification while teaching kindergarten, at The Academy.
Today, one aspect of my job involves a focus on literacy.   I moved into a role as a support teacher for our reading program, at The Academy, in 2012, and I have worked with our reading team for the past seven years.  I daily evaluate and formulate reading curriculum to insure best-practices in reading instruction.   Every day, the excitement for learning, at The Academy, inspires me to be the best teacher I can be.  I love helping lay the groundwork for student success by setting individualized goals based on summative and formative data and watching students attain the goals we set, together.
Each afternoon, I work in the CMF center.
I am honored to have received The Mackie Grant from The CindyMackie Foundation for five years.  This grant  has been  instrumental in creating the CindyMackie Literacy and Performing Arts Center, at the Academy, where our students  enjoy reading, checking-out books to take home, extending language through creative expression, and expanding learning through research.  I also utilize my Gifted and Talented Endorsement while working with students, during our academic extended day.
In my personal life, I have been married for 25 years to, my husband, Jamey.  We have two daughters, Claire and Sophie.  Claire is a senior at Clemson and Sophie is a 2020 graduate from high school.  She is ready to continue her education in interior design and entrepreneur business management.   Time on the lake, cheering for the Clemson Tigers,  and the beach life are some of my family's favorite things.  I am very thankful for the blessings of God and I lean on Him for guidance and daily strength.  Thank you for reading, a little, about my life and thank you for allowing me to play a part in the education of your child.
